Obama says the country can\u00e2\u0080\u0099t afford the \u00e2\u0080\u009ccost\u00e2\u0080\u009d of tax cuts that were instituted about a decade ago. The word \u00e2\u0080\u009ccost\u00e2\u0080\u009d is used by nearly every news organization in this regard. We (as in the non-wealthy) supposedly \u00e2\u0080\u009cpay\u00e2\u0080\u009d for the \u00e2\u0080\u009ccost\u00e2\u0080\u009d of a new tax rate. \u00c2\u00a0Now, unless the president is arguing that the baseline of government spending should encompass owning all your money and anything the IRS doesn\u00e2\u0080\u0099t take \u00e2\u0080\u009ccosts\u00e2\u0080\u009d something, then only spending can really \u00e2\u0080\u009ccost\u00e2\u0080\u009d Americans.

Moreover, if the imaginary $80 billion yearly \u00e2\u0080\u009ccost\u00e2\u0080\u009d is so significant, why can\u00e2\u0080\u0099t the president match it with a mere $80 billion in real spending cuts? Who \u00e2\u0080\u009cpays\u00e2\u0080\u009d for the cost of failing to cut spending ? Rather, the president\u00e2\u0080\u0099s proposed budget would add $6.4 trillion in deficits between 2013 and 2022, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.
